Panchatattva (panch + tattva) connotes the five elements or the panchamahabhutas. These are Prithvi (Earth), Jal (Water), Agni (Fire), Vayu (Air), and Akash (Space/ Ether). Each of these elements is individually and combines rich core energy.

Human body is also believed to be made up of these Panchatattva called panchabhutas or panchamahabhutas.

The five elements make up the body structure. But the functional aspect is ruled by three biological humours. Ether and air together form vata; fire and water make up pitta; water and earth create Kapha.

The Earth element is called “Prithvi” in Sanskrit.
It comes in the fifth position because it contains the essence of the other four elements.
Earth Element helps us feel grounded and protected.
